Baby Bump

What’s in the box (or bag)? Baby registry freebies!

You’re having a baby! Once the initial shock settles, you can move into the next phase of preparing for your little one’s arrival. Sign up for baby registries at your favorite stores and receive lots of free goodies (and coupons)! For us, we signed up with Amazon, Walmart and Target —  stores where we regularly shop (we’re bargain shoppers!).

There are a lot of other retailers: Buy Buy Baby, Babies R Us and Pottery Barn Kids. And also many sites helping you pull your items together into a universal registry: Baby List, The Bump, Blueprint Registry. They each have their own benefits, but in this post, I’m going to share what you can find in the registry welcome boxes specifically from Amazon, Target and Walmart. The best part is that these are all FREE! And so exciting to open, especially as a new parent.

Note: This post was written February 2018; the items regularly change in these boxes! I tried my best to link everything so you can learn more about the products. This took me for-EVER, but hope you find it helpful!

Amazon Baby Registry Welcome Box

First of all, how do you become eligible for this? Ahh! There were several steps to complete before this box arrives at your door.

  1. Sign up for a baby registry through your Amazon account.
  2. After your registry is up, there needs to be $10 of purchases made and shipped from the registry.
  3. When logged into your registry, click on “Registry Checklist” on the left side and go through the items Amazon recommends for a baby registry. Check every item (they do not need to go on your registry).
  4. Once these steps are complete, you can check the status of your welcome box. You should see a “Claim Now” button that will give a $35 credit for the box. Once you order the box, the total amount will adjust to $0.00.
  5. Note: For me, when I originally finished the steps, the boxes were out of stock. About a week later when I checked the status, the boxes were available again.

Items in the box:

Target Baby Welcome Gift:

Getting the Target welcome bag was easy! First, sign up for your baby registry, which you can do from home. Then go to your local Target store and visit the Guest Services desk. Print off your registry (or show them your registry on your phone). The staff member will then hand you this bag of goodies (yay!).

Items for mom:

  • Sample of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E – Skin Therapy Oil – along with $1 off coupon on a 5.1oz of Skin Therapy Oil
  • Samples of Lasinoh – 2 disposable nursing pads and 2 breastmilk storage bags
  • Coupon: $5 off one Boppy Total Body Pillow
  • Target-specific coupons: Buy one get one free Starbucks handcrafted beverage (only valid at Starbucks in Target stores); 10% off nursing bra or cami purchase and 10% off maternity apparel purchase

Other Target registry benefits:

  • 15% completion discount 8 weeks prior to your due date (one online purchase and one in-store purchase)
  • Free shipping for you and your gift-givers on all orders over $25
  • Easy returns – up to one year after your due date to return or exchange items from your registry
  • Use the Target registry app and the checklist they provide.
  • This is also a universal registry so you can add items you find on other websites
  • Call Target Guest Registry Services at 1-800-888-9333.

Walmart Welcome Box

Sign up online for Walmart’s Welcome Box (free!). Not to be confused with Walmart’s Baby Box which is a box subscription program and costs $5 for shipping. About three weeks later, the box came in the mail!

Destination Maternity/Motherhood Maternity

My mom also bought me some maternity clothes from Destination Maternity and they gave a “perks bag” too. It included mostly coupons and an sample Avent bottle. More information here.

Lastly, I also signed up for baby formula samples and coupons with Enfamil. I’m hoping to breastfeed, but just want to be prepared in case things don’t go to plan. Enfamil sent this awesome box of samples. If I don’t end up using it, this would be a great gift for my mommy friends using formula.

Whew! Finished. Now I’m going to organize all these products and coupons! Best of luck, mommies!

  1. This is all so helpful! I was wondering about my amazon box and after reading this, I realize I need to “order” it. Thanks for the info!

    1. Jenn – Yes, I had the same problem! It definitely isn’t clear on the Amazon website how to get the box. Glad this was helpful! Remember after you order it, the amount should change from $35 to $0. 🙂
